Mozilla Songbird has been upgraded to 0.5 and added few new features like MTP Device support, Media Views, Improved Filter picker etc.

Mozilla Songbird is completely plugin based media playerhas been started it’s grab in the music player market which is occupied by Winamp, iTunes , Realplayer etc. The newly introduced features are awesome and this cool UI features are good enough to change the other media players thoughts on UI stuffs.

MTP Device support

Windows users have a shiny new MTP Add-on that introduces MTP Device Support! Most portable media players and cell phones integrate the MTP spec so try plugging in your device and share your findings on the MTP Device Compatibility Wiki Page.

Media Views

Media Views provide new ways of displaying, manipulating, exploring, and contextualizing your media library.

This Media Views allows you to develop your own way to visualizingthe media library. You can create the plugins for media view and plug it in the Songbird and visualize your media. One simple example is creating Tag clouds for your media similar to tag clouds in blog.

Mozilla Songbird a fantastic multimedia player which can play any kind of video, audio formats. I’ve switched to Songbird few weeks back and started exploring it. It’s amazing!! It plays all kind of file formats in my notebook. From MP3, MP4, WAV, AVI, MPG etc. Songbird is built on plugins, which allows you to attach any songbird plugin and play any kind of file format. And cool thing is It also supports IPod sync.

Songbird a Music Mashups

Songbird is a desktop media player mashed-up with the Web. It provides a feature to browser any music, video site, and drag drop any kind of song or video file. So it saves the time of downloading the file through a download manager, and importing the files to a playlist.
