Google Docs adds print preview

Google Docs adds a new features in it to make the document manage feel close to its rival Microsoft Office. Now recently Google Docs has added a new feature ‘Print Preview’ which acts exactly like Print Preview mode in the Microsoft Word. View and edit documents like you would on real paper with the new fixed width page view mode.

4 Steps to Convert any document into PDF using Google Docs

Google Docs is such a simple and powerful application which helps you to take the office docs online and work on it. In most of the cases you would have a need for PDF format of the document you work on. And probably you would have tired searching and downloading a PDF print driver or any PDF convertor to do it.

The process of converting a document is as simple as the above picture. Just open up the Google Docs, upload the document / text file and save as PDF format and it’s done. You get a PDF document on the fly.Let us see how do we convert a document into PDF.

1. Open up Google docs and Click ‘Upload’

2. Now you will be asked to upload the document which you want to convert either from your local system or from any website.

And just name the file accordingly. And click ‘Upload File’

Now your document would have been uploaded and will be seen in the Google Docs Document Editor.

3. Now select File -> Download As -> PDF

4. Selecting this option will ask you for some print configurations

Configure your options and click ‘Ok’ and that’s Done. You will get your PDF files ready in seconds for download.

Adobe Share – Flex based Online Document Manager

Adobe Share is another Flash Powered document sharing service from Adobe. First Question that came to my mind when I saw this was , Oh my god..another file document managing system. Currently I’m using Google Docs and I like it. Since Google services are integrated with one another I could have no choice rather than showing love to Google Docs. Because, any Microsoft format documents by default opens up with Google Docs interface. But Flash powered Adobe Share has it’s cool and smooth looking UI. A clean UI that I could say.

Also they give embed script which creates Flash preview.Adobe Share API are available public to develop mashups. From the Adobe Blogs, they claim that Adoube Share is built using the REST technique. First it allows you to upload the docs from your computer to Adobe Share. Also share the document with the person whom you want. You can also just limit the access of the docs!! Once the document is uploaded you will get the icon of the document format. The cool thing I like about Adobe Share it, it could recognize “docx” format too. Google Docs is not so brilliant enough to recognize docx.

Once you are done with it, your file is read for preview and share. But to my dismay, the Preview was not created.

Since still the product is in Beta ( I guess it’s in Alpha ), they have not enabled the preview of the document. Guess future Adobe Share and Adobe Buzzword will collaborate. As of now I guess there is 1 GB of space allocated for each ID.

And the most important thing is, 1 GB of online file store is available
