You are right. Gmail doesn't allow you to do a substring search in the mail address. That's one of the necessary search where most needs. Google has to look into this. For instance, maybe all I remember is that there is the word "saber" somewhere in the from: email. Gmail just *doesn't* give me any results with regular or advanced search, even though I know it's there. It's so maddening - I've tried wildcards and just typing in saber and it never works. I wouldn't even mind feeling *more* stupid if someone could tell me where I'm going wrong. I mean, if there's *one* thing Gmail ought to be able to do, it's search exhaustively! Particularly when there is no tree organizational structure. This makes me feel so stupid, but I *can’t* seem to search my Gmail for partial email addresses.
